"Artists" are full of bullshit. It takes no special gift or understanding to draw. It resides primarily in the way that the brain puts images together to perceive something that can be translated to paper. Modern art is made because people with no talent want the mystique of what an "artist" does. People have equated a more accurate visual sense with more sensuality in general. Maybe I'm an asshole, but I wouldn't trust anyone that can't draw realistically before they draw something abstract. I always thought there should be some sort of prerequisite to creating shit. Prove you can before you prove you can't. And really, what is there to rebel against in art? "Oh, I don't like the way that colors interact on canvas in the modern world, so I'll do something crazy!" "The Mona Lisa was a symbol of oppression"...I don't know. I just can't imagine what everyone thinks is so wrong about BEAUTIFUL IMAGES. And yes I've heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder...but should'nt someone who proves they can "behold" correctly have some sort of authority. Really, I just rant because Woody Allen movies tend to piss me off. He's really an asshole. I promise. If he's joking, it isn't obvious enough. I've had a lot of friends who have tried to impress me by showing me his movies. Just because I am an "artist" and I'm really nervous, everyone thinks I will like some pretentious fuck's self-righteous, worldly.....can we call it art? I'm sure the majority of the world can. I could go on, but it's harder to care/explain it. I don't really expect it to be understood, I just want someone to take my word for it. If someone is too proud of being an artist, they are lying. Also, my grammar can't keep up with my anger. |
